God’s purpose of keeping me alive….

I had a very horrific experience when I was just two years old. It’s not an accident. But it’s a situation when I almost lost my life. I can’t remember that situation, my relatives just told me this. But not in complete details. When me and my wife went home to my hometown last weekend, my father told the story to my wife. And I will tell it here….

The purpose of this blog

Hi, I wasn’t able to state my reason why I am putting up this blog site. Actually, I read blogs by other people, but I do not do blogging. Reason, I don’t know what to write.

So this will be my first blog. This will contain daily (hopefully) happenings in my life. This will serve more like a journal. I might also put here different issues (if needed), and other stuff.

Thank you for having time reading my blog.

God bless you..

Soli Deo Gloria.

I am done…..

I have finshed setting up my site. You won’t be able to see it here because I wasn’t able to migrate the data. This means that I have to restart my blogging from scratch.

My new site is www.marvincruz.com. It will just continue where this blog site ended.

Thank you very much…

Soli Deo Gloria.

Final decision….

After trying to resolve on how to migrate the contents of my old blog site to this new one, I failed. Therefore, I will be starting ‘fresh’ on this new blog site.

To visit my old blogs, go to allforhim.legionhost.com.

At least I have my own web address…..

 Soli Deo Gloria…..

What now….

I am still trying to figure out a way to fix my site….

I am currently communicating with my host so we can fix this.

As you can see, even if you type www.marvincruz.com, every link is pointed to allforhim.legionhost.com. So I need to have a resolution for this, to use my URL while not losing the old data from my old blog. If there won’t be a resolution, I have to restart my blogging.

Any way, my weekends great. Went to our hometown with my family. But I wasn’t able to get enough sleep.

Any way, my weekend’s great.

Soli Deo Gloria.

At last……

I am finished setting up this site…..

Well, not really… encoutered few problems…

So i am not yet done…

Visit my old site… allforhim.legionhost.com

www.marvincruz.com is now online….

Yes, www.marvincruz.com, my own domain, is now online.

It was very fast. And though we had problems for the name server (the name server that my host gave me is not the actual name server, but fixed it in seconds), the staff of marvinsweb is very patient and fast in responding to my needs. (NOTE: www.marvinsweb.net is in not related to me nor it is me)

BUT, the site has no contents yet. I’m still transferring data from the old folder (allforhim.legionhost.com) to the new folder (marvincruz.com). It might sound technical, but in laymans term, it’s just like I’m moving to a different room in a house.

I will also upgrade my blog from Wordpress 2.2 to Wordpress 2.3 (latest version), and add some more features, and I will create my own theme. How is that!? Yey.

Hope I could finish setting up marvincruz.com by the end of the week….

Soli Deo Gloria…

My own domain name….

Ever since I placed myself on the web, I used free webhosting services. Started with plain html until using content management systems. I am using free hostings because I don’t have the funds to pay free a paid hosting. I also don’t have a credit card so there’s no way for me to pay. I found a local web host provider, but still, can’t pay for the price.

I also had problems uploading and setting up CMS in my former free hostings. Ironically (i’m an internet addict), I don’t have internet connection in our house (the service provider said I have to wait for 2 - 3 weeks before the line would reach us). So I searched for free hostings that have Joomla! pre-installed. I found legionhost.com. They have Joomla! pre-installed or you could choose other cms to use (I use wordpress for this blog). It is free and I found the features and service great. However, I want to have my own domain name.

So I looked at the local webhost provider if they sell domain names. And they do, for only about $11 (Php550 to be exact), I can have my own domain name for one year.

So I processed the order and I will be paying tomorrow. I will still going to use my free hosting but I’m going to use my own domain name (that would be the web address).

So….

Coming soon….. www.marvincruz.com

Soli Deo Gloria….

Linux vs. Windows and Canon printer

I’ve been a fan of Ubuntu since version 5.04. I also tried different distros of Linux like slax, Bayanihan (Philippine version based on Red Hat), and others. But eventhough I liked Linux, I still used Windows because I’m still trying to learn Linux ‘more’, and my in-laws are not familiar with it.

Then came the time when Windows XP always gives me a headache (prone to very simple viruses, always crashes, and other darn things. So I decided to move to Linux. Then nightmare! My printer is a Canon IP1200, and Linux doesn’t support Canon printers (or Canon isn’t compatible with Linux because Canon uses Windows for processing data, call it proprietary). In short, I won’t able to use my printer (new). Upon discovering the situation, I regreted buying Canon, I should have bought an HP instead.

So I searched the internet for a solution. I came up with turboprint, it’s free but I won’t be able to print quality picts (will print but there will be a watermark in the photo). So I have to purchase it in order for me to print quality picts. The problem is….. I don’t have a credit card. I also don’t have a paypal account.

Now, my recent problem occured. My HD crashed. And I blame windows for it. So I decided to move to Linux after getting my pc fixed. So I have to buy turboprint. but the cost of it is almost the same with a new home printer.

So, I am still confused. Am I going to use Linux, then buy a new linux compatible printer (or buy turboprint), or continue using Windows (no need to buy anything) and suffer the same problems over and over again….

It’s a battle in my brain….

When things doesn’t turn out the way you want to…

As much as possible, I don’t want to expect that things will happen the way I want it. Why? ‘Coz I don’t want to be frustrated when things go bad. I always expect negative results (think of me as a negative person, but I’m not). I just do it so I won’t be depressed by the negative result. It works for me. And when things do happen the way I want it, I feel more happy and content.
