Growing….

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

I’m proud to say that our church, Liberty Presbyterian Church, is growing.

That would be in numbers, ministry, and involvements.

  • Numbers - our members are inviting their friends to church on Sundays. We have great opportunity for evangelism
  • Ministry - Our Sunday School is continuously being blessed by God. Though one of our teacher needs to stop teaching ‘coz she has classes on Sunday, it just took me 5 seconds to get another person that is willing to teach the children. We are also going to conduct feeding ministry programs for the children in our area (we’re on a rural area). We’re going to conduct a worship symposium for the members that is willing to commit to the our music ministry.
  • Involvements - Since we have emerging ministries, members are willing to involve. Or maybe, our members wants to be involved in the ministry that’s why the church’s ministries are growing. In any case, our church is now moving.

We thank God for this development. And I also thank God ‘coz He is using me in this church.

Soli Deo Gloria

WordPress Wins Best Open Source Social Networking CMS

Monday, November 26th, 2007

I’ve been eager to post this one, but due to some health and work concerns, I wasn’t able to do it…

But even if it is late, I’ll still announce that Wordpress, the one that powers this blog won the best open source social networking CMS last October at the Open Source Content Management System Award, 2007.

You can read about the news (and also other winners on other category) here, http://www.packtpub.com/award

Now, what happened to me…

Monday, November 26th, 2007

I haven’t posted any blog for almost a week or so… why?

As I’ve said in my last post, I became sick. I was coughing throughout my shift. And it really annoys me. My throat sucks and my chest is in pain.

So, after two weeks of cough, I went to the Doctor, and I took a chest x-ray and CBC test. My lungs are fine but as the CBC result says, I have a high infection (due to cough). The first batch of antibiotics didn’t do any good. So, earlier this day, I was given a prescription of another set of (higher dose) antibiotics.

My medical certificate also states that I should have 3 days of bed rest (due to high infection). I already made 2 absences and I think I won’t do it again. I am feeling better (though not really that much ‘better’).

I’ll start taking the meds tomorrow. But I’ll be drinking a lot of water today. This would make me go to have a bladder break often.

Well, I’m back, at least.

Soli Deo Gloria.

Don’t have much to post… Just want to ask for your prayers.. I am currently sick now (cough, cold, and lots of body pains).

I still have to go to work, but if my condition won’t go better, I will be forced to make an absence.

Please pray for my health…

Being a Sunday School Department Director…

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

It’s been 3 months now when I was appointed to be the Sunday School Director (or CE director as I put it) of our church.

Honestly, I don’t have much experience in sunday school. I never got into sunday school coz i became a christian when I was in high school and my former church doesn’t have SS for high school. I also wasn’t involved that much with teaching SS (but I was able to teach youth SS for some months and also Vacation bible School).

My major is not Christian Education (mine is Theology).

But by God’s grace, with the very cooperative SS teachers that we have (this is in my new church), i was able to organize our sunday school (we reconstructed the sunday school dept from its previouse setup).

We currently have three departments, ages 4 - 6; 7 - 9; and afternoon SS for non-christian children. (our morning SS are for our member’s children).

As of now, everything is working great. We are currently using books we borrowed from a children’s mission for our lesson. But we are planning to create our own lessons by april next year.

We had a quarterly evaluation last sunday, and as for the feedback, Everything is working smoothly.

I really thank God because eventhough I don’t have the ‘experience’, God gave me strength and wisdom to do my job.

Please pray for me and this ministry. We still have a lot of things to improve (me also).

Soli Deo Gloria.

Back to work….

Monday, November 5th, 2007

I’ve spent 9 days (including 4 day offs) of vacation.

Things that happened….

    * My son celebrated his 1st birthday last October 28 (his actual birthday is 29th)….

    * My son’s baptism (i’m a Presbyterian) also happened that day…

    * Went home to my hometown with my wife and son and spent 4 days there…..

    * Had a quarterly evaluation meeting with my sunday school staff.

    * Tried to fix my pc using an old (slow) 6gig hard drive…. it worked, but slow

    * Packed our things (the house we’re staying, my in-law’s, is going to be renovated)

    * in all of these, I am with my family.

Vacation, but tired.

back to work, have to be serious again….
