My thoughts about life, family, tech, church, and God.

Weekend….

Yeah, it’s weekend… at last. After a whole weeks work, it’s time to take a rest.

Ironically, my rest is - go to inquire regarding  internet service, go to the mall to buy gifts and stuff for the coming Christmas, finish the installation of our home PC, go to Church, and have a lot of time with my family. It’s a hectic weekend, but it’s enjoying for me.

Does everyone has the same weekends as mine?

God bless… happy weekend

Growing….

I’m proud to say that our church, Liberty Presbyterian Church, is growing.

That would be in numbers, ministry, and involvements.

  • Numbers - our members are inviting their friends to church on Sundays. We have great opportunity for evangelism
  • Ministry - Our Sunday School is continuously being blessed by God. Though one of our teacher needs to stop teaching ‘coz she has classes on Sunday, it just took me 5 seconds to get another person that is willing to teach the children. We are also going to conduct feeding ministry programs for the children in our area (we’re on a rural area). We’re going to conduct a worship symposium for the members that is willing to commit to the our music ministry.
  • Involvements - Since we have emerging ministries, members are willing to involve. Or maybe, our members wants to be involved in the ministry that’s why the church’s ministries are growing. In any case, our church is now moving.

We thank God for this development. And I also thank God ‘coz He is using me in this church.

Being a Sunday School Department Director…

It’s been 3 months now when I was appointed to be the Sunday School Director (or CE director as I put it) of our church.

Honestly, I don’t have much experience in sunday school. I never got into sunday school coz i became a christian when I was in high school and my former church doesn’t have SS for high school. I also wasn’t involved that much with teaching SS (but I was able to teach youth SS for some months and also Vacation bible School).

My major is not Christian Education (mine is Theology).

But by God’s grace, with the very cooperative SS teachers that we have (this is in my new church), i was able to organize our sunday school (we reconstructed the sunday school dept from its previouse setup).

We currently have three departments, ages 4 - 6; 7 - 9; and afternoon SS for non-christian children. (our morning SS are for our member’s children).

As of now, everything is working great. We are currently using books we borrowed from a children’s mission for our lesson. But we are planning to create our own lessons by april next year.

We had a quarterly evaluation last sunday, and as for the feedback, Everything is working smoothly.

I really thank God because eventhough I don’t have the ‘experience’, God gave me strength and wisdom to do my job.

Please pray for me and this ministry. We still have a lot of things to improve (me also).

Soli Deo Gloria.

Disconnected….

I was having conversation (through email) with a friend the other day. And I was reminded but what she said.

We went into the topic of being busy in the ministry but still is detached to the Lord. It was a reminder for her part, and I was reminded of what happened to me before.

I used to be very busy in the church, in the ministry. I even went to the seminary to study Theology. But would you believe that those were the times when my spiritual life is very low. And those were the time where I felt I’m “burn-out”.

Disconnected….. from the source of real strength……….

Ministry or being busy doesn’t make you connected to God….

But being connected to God can make you do things without the feeling of being “burn-out”…..

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” - Phil 4:13

Sunday Message….

I am the who preached in our church last sunday. My scripture reference is Galatians 4:4,5. It is about the law and grace… I believe I have delivered the message properly, my problem is….

The last time I preached in our church, It took me 1 hr and 30 min….. too long… It took me that long because I wasn’t able to prepare my transcript. So last Saturday, I still wasn’t able to prepare my transcript (due to the nature of my work, i work graveuyard shift). So i brought a timer during preaching. I told the congregation that it would not reach more than 20 minutes.. But my timer didn’t alarm, so when i felt that my message is too long, I ended it (properly though).

Then when I am checking my timer, I discovered that I set my timer to 20 hours instead of 20 minutes…

The next time I’ll be preaching, I’ll make a transcript to avoid overtime….

Soli Deo Gloria.
