Prayer Request

I posted a prayer request last July 29 for Rev. Prince Santos. These are the updates.
(Good news) His wife’s operation (caesarean section) was successful. They have a new baby boy.
(Sad news) His mother died this morning (Manila Time) from cancer.
Please continue to pray for them. That God comfort them and give them strength.
Thanks.
Soli Deo Gloria.
I’m celebrating(?) my first year at work today (August 6).
it was August 6 of 2007 when I stepped in here in the company. It was my first (real) job. I never expected that I’ll reach 1 year at work.
Been with two departments (switchboard, now sales). Been on the top of the ranks, and also been at the bottom.
Nothing to celebrate really (except that I was able to endure grave yard shift struggles) because I am currently looking for a daytime job.
Anyway. I am thankful to God cause I learned a lot from this job.
Soli Deo Gloria.
(Have to get back to work)

Liberty Presbyterian Church is conducting its month long anniversary celebration this August. The theme is about commitment and spreading the Word of God.
There will be eating fellowships every after service and everyone is encouraged to invite a friend to attend, not just the anniversary, but permanently, in the church.
However, our first day of celebration was met with a bit of unexpected situations. (1) A vehicle by one of our members (they use it for their business) was stolen. Good thing is they really have faith in God and was able to carry on with it. (2) Our Pastor was not able to finish his message due to mild food poisoning. He went to a wedding last Saturday. And the worst effect took place during Sunday morning. He was sent to the clinic in the afternoon. Some of his friends who were also in the wedding sent him a message that they also had the same situation. Good thing it’s not serious and was able to go home the next day.
Still, God is good.

Prayer Request

I’d like to make a prayer request.
Please pray for Rev. Prince Santos and his family. His mother was diagnosed to have a bone cancer and her condition is not good. She suffered before from a different cancer and was treated through chemotherapy. Now she developed cancer of the bone.
At the same time, his wife, Melai, is scheduled for a caesarean section for their second child.
Please pray for healing and provision for their family. Pray that God would give them hope and strength in this time of trials.
Thanks.
Soli Deo Gloria.
There is something I didn’t mention in this blog. i celebrated my 25th birthday last June.
For most Filipinos, they are ashamed to reveal their real age (because they are old). And honestly, I am ‘pissed’ of by this kind of attitude. Why would you deny your real age. And as I recall (can’t remember the verse) that our age (old) is a crown for us.
I am proud I am 25. Five more years to reach 30. Five more years to reach my goals.
Ever since I started this blog, I used the default theme of Wordpress. I had plans to use a different theme. But I had some problems in the configuration. I found this one, which fits my needs.
My next plan was to create my own theme. I don’t know how to write php or css. But it is time to learn.
Current theme by themestudio.
How do you like my new theme?

July 08, 2006, it’s been two years now, and even though we encountered struggles, misunderstandings and obstacles on the way, I could say our relationship is getting stronger.
Here are some facts regarding day of marriage (ceremony), and I am not ashamed of it:
* My wife was 6 months pregnant when we were married (unplanned marriage for us, but God planned it…
* We have very limited budget, therefore we have to borrow from someone…
* we lack preparation (one month only) for the ceremony…
* since we lack preparation, I am the wedding coordinator of the ceremony…
* we bought low cost dress for me (but my wife’s gown is not, it’s custom made)…
* we bought low cost silver wedding ring (can’t afford gold)…
* the ceremony was held in a covered open air basketball court….
* it rained (short hard rain) right after the wedding ceremony (just before the reception)…
* we went and stayed at my wife’s
They say that no relationship is perfect… well, I’ll say that God can make a lot of difference with marriage.
We had disagreements, I one packed my things and almost left because of a disagreement we had.
Lately, we realized one of our mistakes, we don’t have prayer time. So we devoted some time (each night before I leave for work) to pray.
We’ll be celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary today (Manila Time) with technically no money at hand (there’s a lot of expenses this month). But in the course of our marriage, we’ve learned to trust God.
Our son is 1 year and 9 months old now, and we’re praying that he’ll be good and have holy fear for God.
I Love my wife, April. I love my son, Obi
And I thank God for blessing our family for 2 years (and the years to come)..

Before I start, my favorite web broswer is Mozilla Firefox 3. I set it up that every time I start Firefox, it would open the websites I always visit.
Here they are…
- marvincruz.com - well, this is my blog. Though I don’t post often (or post nonsense most of the time), this is the first on my list.
- Ubuntuforums.org - Philippine Team - I’ve been using Ubuntu Linux for quite a time now (though I am not using it now since I have to format my hard drive). And I am getting updates from this community. And what’s good with the ubuntuforums community is that it doesn’t just talk about Ubuntu or Linux or Opensource, there is a lot of other topics in there like day to day experiences, jokes, etc… It’s very imformative and enjoying. Philippine Team - local group for Filipinos.
- lifehacker.com - “Lifehacker, the software and productivity guide, is a blog that covers tips and tricks for streamlining your life with computers (and sometimes without). Updated several times daily, Lifehacker points out software downloads, web sites, do-it-yourself projects, howto’s, tutorials, shortcuts and tips for going beyond the default settings and getting things done in the most clever, unexpected and efficient ways. Think of Lifehacker as self-help for power users.” - http://lifehacker.com/about/. In short, you get tips and current informations from this website. Though sometimes reading the comments are discouraging (because of people discriminating the post beacuse the commenter thinks the post is very elementary and doesn’t fit his ‘high’ standars), there are a lot of things I learned from this website (specially technology).
- google reader - Well, this is my RSS feed reader. I am using a web based RSS reader cause I want to check my feeds at home, work or wherever I am. Google reader was my first RSS reader and I find it easy to use. With google reader, I’ll know if there’s a new post or update on the blogs that I read.
- inquirer.net - Inquirer is a local broadsheet newspaper in the Philippines. And this is their website. I check on this one cause I think they have the most updated info unlike the others. It doesn’t just speak about current Philippine news but also global news.
So there it is. This doesn’t mean that I don’t visit other sites. I do visit other sites. But this 5 website is my gateway to other sites. If there is a new feed in google reader, I go to that blog to check it out further. If there is a recommended website in lifehacker, I check it out, etc…
What’s your favorite websites?
Yesterday was my first day to sell computers for our company (through the phone, inbound). This was for our transition before we go to full production (for our batch). But sadly, I wasn’t able to sell any. I received 7 calls (for a 4 hour period) and none of them bought (1 ghost call, 2 should be transfered to other department, 3 inquiries, 1 that was going to buy except that the previous agent he was talking with called him).
Well, I have to make a sale today (exceed the goals since I was zero yesterday) so I won’t have any problems.
Lord, please help.
Soli Deo Gloria..
